Welcome to 24th Borstal Scout Group
Our Scout Group is the oldest remaining group in Rochester and the second oldest in the Medway Towns District. We are located next to the Pilgrim School, in Warwick Crescent, Borstal, immediately under the coastal bound carriageway of the M2 Motorway Bridge as it crosses the River Medway. See our History page for more about The Group.
We have a lively Beaver Colony for those boys and girls aged 6 to 8 years. A thriving Cub Pack then takes them until they are 10 ½ years of age. Then they move up to the Scout Troop where they play the ‘Scouting Game’ until they are teenagers aged 14yrs. From there they can join the Explorer Unit until they are 18, after which there is the option to become Network Scouts, retaining their links with The Group and the wider Movement, until the age of 25.
Every section aims to provide the best scouting possible to its members and there is a highly dedicated team of leaders and helpers in each one working very hard to make sure that this happens.
For more details about any section please select its page from the links on the left.
Were you a Scout?
Did you want to be a Scout but couldn't?
Was it because you were a girl?
Well things have changed, we take girls into the movement now; we have done for years! It's never too late to join either, there is now an Adult Section for people who wanted to be a Scout or who were Scouts and would like to enjoy the experience again. It is called Scout Active Support the link will take you to their pages on the Oficial Scout Web Site where you can find out all about it. if there was enough interest we could start our own Unit here at Borstal.
24th Borstal Scout Group is a Registered Charity - No. 303430
